The start of Plourde Family adventure- July 2008

Welcome to our blog - I am new to blogging so hopefully it improves as I go along;)
Monday, June 30th: Today our movers came to pack our house and they will load it all into the truck tomorrow. We rented the home so it is nice to know we will be able to return to it. We will wait a little over a month for everything to arrive in Switzerland. Our adventure to Switzerland officially begins this Saturday July 5th! Here are a couple of pictures of the town we will be living in temporarily. It is called Zug and I guess is very quaint and beautiful will cobblestone streets and little cafes and bakeries along the streets. I surely will wake up every morning and have a little puffed pastry and be on a sugar high until lunch. I have never been to any of these towns and only to Switzerland twice in my life! So, these pictures are all I know of this town that will be called "home" until we find a house or condo to rent near Ryan's office in Pfaffikon, Switzerland.

I have registered both Ella and Charlie in the Obersee Bilingual School in Wollerau which is about 5 minutes from Ryan's office and we will find a home within 5-10 minutes from there. It caters to international families and came recommended from several people. Most families speak English as their first language. In fact, there is a Colorado family and a Las Vegas family there! They will both go 2 mornings per week from 9-noon and I can increase that once they get used to the "newness" of everything. In the classroom the teachers will say everything in English first followed by German. So, they will read a book in English then read the exact same book in German. They do circle time, sing songs, have free time and take outdoor adventures in the forest. Ella and Charlie can actually be in the same classroom which will make them very happy to start - I guess they divide the smaller and older children about halfway through the day. I hope they enjoy this school as much as Ella enjoyed her school this past year.

We will have a rental car until we find a car to lease - just one family car as I guess the public transit is pretty much able to get you anywhere you want to go. I think it just takes a bit longer with the stops.Save Now

Coming from Colorado I have not bought "Rain gear" in about 8 years - well, Switzerland is a different story - it rains more often. So I actually bought this cool little plastic cover for my stroller. I have yet to get myself a rain coat, but as long as the kids are dry and happy -- I am happy. Here is a link to Zurich weather which will be 20 min from us.

Since my computer is packed I have limited access to photo capability until I can figure out how to download them from my camera to my laptop...so they may be a bit random until I figure it all out! Here are some more pics of the kids.....poor Charlie was dressed up and forced to smile by his sister.

More to come!
